This thing doesn’t work a bit. It doesn’t let you play the math games, it just says this game isn’t updated to your iPhone. I’ve updated it 1000000 times and it still doesn’t work pls fix it

Great for kids who knows the alphabet letters and it teaches them vowels and how to pronounce the words correctly. Great tool for beginners. It worked for me. Hope it can help other parents.

Been looking for an app to help my 5 year old get a handle on phonics - just started using this app and it seem perfect !

THIS APP IS AWESOME! As a parent to a 6yo girl & a 5yo boy with ADHD and Dyslexia, I found this app (and all the other Starfall apps!) to be a complete & total blessing! Both of my kids love Starfall and they “play” it every single day when they get home from school. 1st, I love that the apps are FREE! 2nd, I love that it covers every single step necessary in order to teach children how to read. Both kids spent the summer learning from Starfall, loving every minute of it! My kids both go to a very small private Christian Academy, where my son started out as a Kindergartener this year and my daughter in 1st grade. He did so well the first few weeks of school that the teacher went ahead and moved him up into the 1st grade with his big sister, who’s the star student!! I was a little hesitant, because I didn’t want him to miss the essentials, but thanks to Starfall and a LOT of time spent working with him by me, he is bypassing our wildest expectations! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Starfall to ALL children, no matter the age. I do feel that a reward system like those of a few other learning apps (tickets to exchange for little online prizes), would make Starfall even better and would give kids the extra incentive to push a bit harder. It would also be great if the different lessons were sectioned off, put in the order in which they should be learned, and then be marked as Mastered each time a module is completed. It would give the kids a sense of accomplishment. Otherwise, I have zero complaints. Thank you, Starfall, for everything you’re doing to help children...especially mine!

I paid for this app before it was free. For adults reorganizing by vowel type might make sense but the kids liked being able to see all the activities on the same screen. Starfall also added some non-reading games to promote their other apps. If you are just downloading the free version now this may not be as frustrating as it is for me. Be wary of paying for any Starfall apps though. I paid for a reading app that "updated" to this free version. Now I have to be vigilant or my kids are playing a silly game about a monkey instead of learning to read.

This app won't load!! Where's the update/fix????

It's April, still not loading beyond the green title screen.

I should have listened to the other reviewers. This doesn't work on iOS 9.2.1. Wish I could get my money back.

It worked for a bit, but for the past few months has not, despite deleting and reloading app. I believe it cost $4.99 and should definitely be refunded.

I've downloaded, deleted and re-downloaded four times. All I get is a black screen. It's a shame. I'd heard good things about Starfall. Please fix or reimburse cost!!

It will not load

It was working a couple weeks ago. Then it wasn't today. We deleted and downloaded again. And it still wouldn't load past the launch screen.

One version of Starfall gave me a green screen and wouldn't work. This version gives me a black screen and won't work either. Heavily disappointed in these iOS products!!!

Love the program when I was in elementary and just gonna buy it to remember the best moments!

The attention to detail that went into this app is amazing, from stories themselves to voiceover to all the little interactive features. My finicky and book-averse 3 year old too to it like bee to honey and now he is a reading 4 year old! I also think this would be a great app for non-English speakers. The voiceover is so incredibly clear and standardized to perfect American English.

We love the website.. Now they can learn whilst not online. Thank you starfall for putting out this app. :-)

I bought this app for my son and doesn't play sound at all...I want my money back.

This is the best reading app hands down. My 5yr old daughter who does not like to read and gets bored with the monotonous nature of most apps loves this one and won't put it down. The combination of catchy tunes, funny movies, and games to reinforce phonemic awareness and decoding skills is amazing.

Awesome app to help with reading and reiterating lessons. My three and five year olds love it.

This is a lot cheaper than a learning center or a private tutor. Mute the volume if you do not want to give off the word. I spent good quality time with my son using this app and I've learned couple things as well lol. Apps slowly starts with individual common Vowel letters that make up words: "_at"; "_et"; "_it"; "_ot"; "_ut". They also learn certain rules. (Silent "e" at the end of a word); ("e" & "o" lonely vowels); (when two vowels are walkin the first one does the talkin) ; ( vowels with r-controlled) I used pocket phonics and sight word apps along with this one.

We found out about the homeschool version of starfall and saw that they had 2 apps available. We purchased both. We are very happy with each, they just reinforce what I teach him in our actual lesson.

I am a teacher and I don't mind using this app, but I wished they had a settings feature to turn off giving the word. For example the student can tap on a word they don't know and the app will sound it out, but the app does not give the student a chance to say it. Instead it gives it to them. It'd be nice to be able to control some of these features within the app.

This is one of the best reading apps. It really helps my son ,who is a special need kid learning to read. I wish the app includes a writing that allows the reader to write or spell. This would reinforce the kid's learning

I love this app. I have a 5 and 7 year old and they both play with it. They like to start the stories at the same time on each of their iPads. It has been very helpful for my five year old learning to read. Thank you! I have just purchased another Starfall app.

I have used the computer version of this app in my classroom for years and it is by far the best teaching tool for reading!!! My students love it and have learned a great deal from it! I didn't have to blink twice about buying this app for my iPad! Starfall ABC is worth buying as well for beginning alphabet letter and sound practice!! Fantastic for and teacher or parent!!!

I tutor students who have dyslexia, and it's difficult to find apps that add to my lessons. This app covers CVC words, VCV long e words, vowel teams VV, and the sounds or, er, ir, ur, ar. Included are a lesson, exercises, a well thought out animation with catchy songs, and some fun activities. My only complaint is the main screen where it is difficult to know which picture to select, you just don't know what it is. I also have to open the app twice for it to run, every time (but it does always run). I would LOVE for them to add more: ng, tch, ck, tion, sion, etc.

I really like this app as a mom. It is great reinforcement and extra practice for what my 5 yr old is learning in kindergarten. My only request is that you come up with some type of star / reward system. My child is more motivated by other games when he feels he can beat a level. With this game, even levels that you do all the exercises for will not show any progress, so it is hard to remember where you leave off.

My 4 year old has had absolutely no interest in reading or spelling.... until we tried this app. It is interactive and rewards him when he spells correctly. If you have a hyperactive boy that is hard to get to sit stillor get interested in reading and spelling, this app will help!

My 3 year old is reading beginner books thanks to the help of this app. The songs are catchy and its easy to navigate through. Love love love this!

Not near as good or complete as the free version on a Windows pc pd

This app is simply amazing. Its priceless. If people are complaining, I'm speechless. My daughter's reading is so much better because this app. Wow! For the price of a happy meal at McDonald's, it's a super bargain.

It doesn't help at all

The blasted website recognizes our iPad when we visit the website and forces us to buy what otherwise is FREE! The kids love it...but the forced purchase is NOT appreciated. Yet another entity taking aim at my kids via my wallet. Most unnecessary and VERY disrespectful...of children and parents.

I love this app for my students! It introduces simple vocabulary, excellent phonics practice, and wonderful activities. While it may be too simple for native speakers, it is great for my First Grade English Learners. I do caution that it is an activity best done with an adult, and may not be particularly effective for students who are working independently. Pairs well with the Starfall ABC's.

My 5 year old loves this application. She loves music and the app presents lots of good phonics information in songs. It is a good mix of entertainment and learning. It feels less like "work" than sounding out the words in a book because there are cartoons with each sentence.
